Summary Statement

The incumbent is primarily responsible for administration of the immunization program for New Castle County. Duties include: serving as subject matter expert, education and Teaching Assistant to practices and pharmacy providers, working with communities and school nurses to promote immunizations, coalition participation, vaccine ordering, ensuring proper vaccine storage, handling and administering vaccines, participating in preparedness activities, supervising a Registered Nurse III and an Administrative Specialist and assisting in the Tuberculosis program and Health Equity program.

Essential Functions

  • Provides or evaluates direct nursing care.
     
  • Develops, implements and/or reviews nursing care plans.
     
  • Provides health care instruction and guidance to individuals, families, community groups and/or nursing home facilities in the management of their health care needs.
     
  • Maintains an effective working relationship with other members of the treatment team.
     
  • Prepares and submits records, reports, evaluations and forms. 
     
  • Participates in and make recommendations regarding quality assurance activities. 

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Nursing Supervisor
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Nursing and at least two years experience as a Registered Nurse in Public Health Nursing OR a Masters degree or higher in Nursing and at least one year experience as a Registered Nurse in Public Health Nursing.
  2. Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license OR multi-state compact license.
  3. Knowledge of staff supervision of two or more employees which includes to plan, assign, review, discipline, recommend hire, promotion, termination and administer performance plans and reviews.
