Summary Statement

This position is responsible for assisting with day to day operations and maintenance of the Ommelanden Hunter Education Training Center.  Daily job duties include performing grounds maintenance; operating and maintaining trap, skeet, 5-stand, rifle, pistol, and archery ranges; maintaining supply inventories; supervising seasonal range staff; preparing fiscal documents for range sales; and reviewing seasonal staff timesheets.  Position involves  safe firearm handling as well as maintenance/repair of shooting range equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates day-to-day staffing schedule.
     
  • Maintains supply inventory.
     
  • Prepares educational materials and programs.
     
  • Maintains daily reports and records.
     
  • Schedules equipment and facility maintenance.
     
  • Participates in design and construction of facilities.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Assistant Rangemaster
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
  1. Six months experience in firearms use, care and safety.
  2. Six months experience in maintaining and repairing groundskeeping or landscaping equipment such as mowers, tractors, saws, sprayers, pruners, edgers, grass shears, and trimmers.
  3. Knowledge of operating a sporting range operation such skeet, trap, clay, archery or target.
  4. Knowledge of staff supervision of two or more employees which includes to plan, assign, review, discipline, recommend hire, promotion, termination and administer performance plans and reviews.

Conditions of Hire

As a condition of hire you must possess a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
