Summary Statement

The incumbent in this position operates Resident Transport Vehicles providing transportation of incapacitated persons to medical appointments and services not available from the medical staff of Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill (DHCI).  Duties include making sure seating and wheelchair restraints are appropriate to the specific needs of each person. This incumbent also performs routine maintenance to ensure safe mechanical condition and cleanliness of vehicles. Other duties include assisting residents boarding and exiting vehicles and assist the Certified Nursing Assistant with resident needs as required.

  • Operates vehicles providing inter-community transportation of incapacitated persons and volunteer workers.
     
  • Ensures seating and wheelchair restraints are appropriate to the specific needs of each person.
     
  • Performs routine maintenance to ensure safe mechanical condition and cleanliness of vehicles.
     
  • Assists with passengers boarding and exit of vehicles and other facilities.
     
  • May operate facility support service vehicles such as trash, laundry and food trucks.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Attendant Chauffeur
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).

Conditions of Hire

Criminal background check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.

Pre-employment Drug Testing: Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.

Union: As a condition of accepting employment, the person selected for this position shall join and pay dues to the labor organization or may, instead not join but pay a service fee no greater than the dues. The labor organization has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other work related purposes.
