Summary Statement

Per Delaware Code, the Executive Director of the Criminal Justice Council (CJC) is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of a majority of the members of the CJC.

Preferred Qualification

Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.

  1. Experience working under the supervision of a board of directors.
  2. Experience in federal criminal justice grant programs.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class.   • Manages day-to-day Criminal Justice Council operations; acts as secretary to the Criminal Justice Council.
     
  • Prepares grant recommendations for consideration by the Criminal Justice Council and its committees.  

  • Ensures compliance with federal criminal justice grant requirements.

  • Interprets the objectives, priorities, policies, and procedures of the Criminal Justice Council, the General Assembly and federal agencies.

  • Directs and supervises Criminal Justice Council staff.

  • Acts as liaison with the Governor’s Office, the General Assembly, top-level public administrators, interstate criminal justice organizations, and the public.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Executive Director – Criminal Justice Council
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas.   1. Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher. 
  2. Experience in grant administration which includes managing and controlling grant expenditures and writing grant applications.
  3. Experience in the criminal justice system.
  4. Experience in interpreting federal laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  5. Experience in staff supervision which includes planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others.
