Summary Statement

Position is responsible for conducting classroom sessions, demonstrating and conducting range exercises, evaluating rider performance, ensuring all motorcycles start and are fueled prior to beginning of days range exercises, ensuring appropriate protective clothing is worn by students, supervising range sessions, securing classroom and range facilities, motorcycles, training equipment and commodities and checking students forms for completeness and accuracy.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Motorcycle Safety Instructor

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience in accordance to Delaware Code Title 21-Motorcycle education program demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Possession of a High School diploma or its equivalent.
  2. At least 18 years of age.
  3. Possession of a Driver's license (shall not have been suspended or revoked any time during the immediately preceding 2 years.)
  4. Possession of a valid motorcycle endorsement.
  5. At least 2 years experience in motorcycle riding.
  6. Shall have no convictions for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the immediately preceding 5 years nor shall have been subject to the First Offense Election - Ignition Interlock Device (FOE-IID) Diversion during the immediately preceding 5 years.
  7. Shall not have any convictions for moving traffic violations with a total of 4 points during the immediately preceding 2 years.
  8.  Instructors who are licensed in other states must furnish certified copies of their driving records to the Division of Motor Vehicles. An applicant shall not be eligible for instructor status until the instructor's diving record for the immediately preceding 5 years is furnished.
  9. Possession of a Motorcycle Safety Foundation certification as an instructor.

Conditions of Hire

Condition of hire - As a condition of hire, you must be a current Motorcycle Safety Foundation Rider Coach, or must successfully complete the scheduled 60 hour Rider Coach Preparation Course. The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the course as part of the conditional offer of hire.

Pre-employment Drug Testing: Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.

Criminal background check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
