SUMMARY STATEMENT
|
The incumbent in this position is responsible for overseeing the operation of the wheelchair department to include budget activities, ordering supplies and materials and maintaining an inventory of parts, materials and equipment. Other duties include: interacting with vendors, staff, residents and family members, overseeing wheelchair repairs and the preventative maintenance program for wheelchairs, performing minor repairs on beds and lifts, and providing training/instruction to staff on the use and care of wheelchairs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
|
Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. - Oversees the operation of a wheelchair shop which involves overseeing the budget for supplies and materials, maintaining an inventory of wheelchair parts and ordering/purchasing supplies, materials and equipment.
- Interacts with a variety of outside vendors and distributors for supplies and materials.
- Establishes and maintains a preventative maintenance schedule for all wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs, and scooters.
- Researches and engineers new equipment.
- Designs and constructs adaptive equipment for clients/patients upon recommendation of other staff.
- Provides in-service training to staff on the use and care of wheelchairs.
- Prepares a variety to records and reports.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
|
JOB REQUIREMENTS for Adaptive Equipment Technician II
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
- Experience in constructing, repairing and modifying wheelchairs and adaptive equipment.
- Experience in record keeping which includes maintaining records, logs, and filing systems.

CONDITIONS OF HIRE
|
