Correctional Fleet Manager (#MCCZ08)
Summary StatementThis class is responsible for managing the Statewide operation for maintenance and repair of a large fleet of vehicles at two automotive shops for the Department of Correction.
Nature and ScopeThe class incumbent reports to an administrative superior. Work involves planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of subordinates. The incumbent also is responsible for analyzing departmental service operations and developing and recommending operational changes to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficient operation of motor vehicles. The incumbent is also responsible for the central repair shop and purchase of government surplus equipment. The incumbent also does evaluations of shop operations statewide and making recommendations for effective utilization of manpower and equipment and to improve parts for stocking and procurement. The incumbent is responsible for monitoring the budget and for developing and negotiating contracts with other agencies and services. The incumbent also inspects vehicle equipment to meet federal and state safety and outside environmental control standards and regulations.
