General Description
Supervises crime scene specialists and lead crime scene specialists in the examination of crime scene and autopsy investigations to include collecting and processing evidence. Responsible for all administrative matters in assigned section.
Distinguishing Characteristics
This position is primarily responsible for supervisory and administrative tasks, however, this position is required to work in the field to assist lead crime scene specialist with complex and high-profile crime scenes. This position requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with a two-year associate's degree, diploma or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school. This position has frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions/hazards. This position is non-exempt and reports directly to the Police Identification Superintendent.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree in related field and four (4) years of directly related experience.

Environment/Working Conditions
Seasonal exposures to extreme heat and cold. Regular exposure to confined spaces, electrical, bases, flammables, formaldehyde, and gases. Frequent exposure to direct sun, dust, acids, fumes, traffic, deceased individuals in various stages of decomposition, blood, and bodily fluids

Driving Requirements
The following information pertains to driving requirements for this classification with the City of Tucson. Under "Driving Level" None, Secondary or Primary, refers to the driving responsibility as it relates to the essential functions of the classification. License Type, is just that, the type of Arizona Driving License required for the classification. If the position requires a Commercial Drivers License (CDL), the endorsements will be listed under "Endorsements." Under Safety Sensitive a "Yes" means employees with this classification are subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. License Type A,B,C,D,or M may require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid license and have an acceptable driving record.
