Selection Process

All applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. Depending upon the number of applications received, the selection process may consist of an initial application screening, a mandatory information meeting, a supplemental questionnaire assessment, a written and/or practical exam, an oral board exam, or any combination listed. Responses to supplemental questions may be used as screening and testing mechanisms and will be used to assess an applicant’s ability to advance in the process; as such, responses to supplemental questions should be treated as test examination responses. A Bachelor's Degree is required for this position. All applicants are encouraged to submit either a copy of their college diploma (verifying the degree, date earned and area of specialization) or official/unofficial transcripts (verifying the date and degree conferred) by the final filing deadline. However, proof of this education requirement must be submitted prior to appointment.

This Supplemental Questionnaire will be used to determine applicants’ qualifications for this position and whether they will continue in the recruitment process; therefore, applicants are encouraged to answer all questions thoroughly and completely.  Omitted information will not be considered or assumed.  Applicants who have no experience in a specific area are recommended to state "no experience in this area" instead of leaving the space blank.

Applicants who are applying as a Management Analyst (Senior) must answer questions 1-3.

Please describe your professional experience preparing and presenting reports to governing bodies.

2.

Describe your professional budget experience including budget preparation, analysis, revenue forecasting, corrective action plans and monitoring. Please include the organization size, budget amount, your role, and level of responsibility.

Describe your experience analyzing administrative and operational problems.


 

Applicants who are applying as a Management Analyst (Principal) must answer questions 4-6.

Describe your technical experience forecasting/modeling local government expenditures and revenues, and analyzing historical trends. Please list the various software applications that you have used to forecast/model budget figures.

5.

Describe your experience in the preparation and analysis of expenditure patterns, projection of future revenues and expenditures, the implementation of corrective action plans, and monitoring of a budget. Include the organization size, (and assigned departments if applicable), budget amount, the role you played, and level of responsibility.

6.

In your current or previous public sector experience, describe your role and responsibilities in analyzing the budget implications of state and federal budget proposals and their impact and implementation to the agency or your assigned departments.
