Conditional employment offers are based on successful completion of any preappointment background investigation, drug testing, and medical/psychological evaluation.

Most positions in the Sheriff’s Department, Probation Department, and the District Attorney’s Office require a thorough background investigation that may include a psychological and polygraph/computerized voice stress analyzer exam prior to appointment
. Other select positions may require the same.

Applicant Notification: You must respond to all notices you receive, either by email, US mail or phone.  If you do not respond, your application will be removed from the computer system.  In addition, you will be removed from the Eligible List if:

a. The postal authorities cannot locate you;
b. You do not respond to our Notice within five (5) working days;
c. You decline three (3) offers of an interview and/or hire;
d. The appointing authority (department) interviews you three (3) times and you are not selected; or
e. Other reasons per Civil Service Commission rule 9.07.

Job Descriptions and Hourly Rates

Community Service Aide: $12.18 - 14.81/HR. Assists County departments in providing a wide variety of services to persons in the community. No experience required. LICENSES/CERTIFICATES: A valid driver’s license is required at the time of application. A valid CALIFORNIA driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. Click here for benefits.

Cook I: $14.37 - 17.46/HR. Under general supervision, assists in preparation of all meals; may direct work of assigned kitchen help. One year of experience in commercial or institutional cooking or the equivalent combination of institutional/commercial cooking education courses and experience. Click here for benefits. 

Custodian: $
15.22-18.50/HR. Cleans and maintains an assigned area in County Buildings; and does other related work as required. No education or experience required. A valid driver’s license is required at the time of application. A valid CALIFORNIA driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. Kennel Worker: $
15.13 - 18.39/HR. Assists in the feeding, care, destruction, and disposal of animals; and maintains the Animal Shelter facility in a clean and orderly condition. No education or experience required. Click here for benefits. 

Mental Health Worker Aide: $12.67-15.40/HR. Assists in providing direct client care and support to professional staff by performing a wide variety of duties. No experience required. Click here for benefits.

Park Gate Attendant: $10.98- 13.36/HR. Performs a variety of work in the collection and record keeping of fees associated with County parks, beaches or recreational areas. Graduation from high school or a GED equivalent. In addition, one year experience which involved general cashier duties and extensive public contact. A valid driver’s license is required at the time of application. A valid CALIFORNIA driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. Must possess and maintain throughout employment valid First Aid and CPR Certificates within six months of appointment. Employees in this class may be required to work weekends, holidays and irregular hours. 

Public Health Aide I: $13.55 - 16.47/HR. Provides a wide variety of non-professional clinical and community services within the Health Agency. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. A valid driver's license is required at the time of application. A valid CALIFORNIA driver's license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. Click here for benefits. 

Public Works Worker I: $
16.16 - 19.65/HR. Under close supervision, performs a wide variety of work in all areas of public works; becomes skilled in the driving and operation of light trucks and other motorized equipment; acquires skill in the use of a variety of hand and power tools. No education or experience required. A valid driver’s license is required at the time of application. A valid CALIFORNIA driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. Click here for benefits. 

Stock Clerk: $
13.84 - 16.82/HR. Assists in receiving, recording, stocking, and delivering a variety of supplies and equipment. No experience required. A valid driver’s license is required at the time of application. A valid CALIFORNIA driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. Water Systems Worker Trainee: $
17.94 - 21.81/HR.
Under close supervision, learns to perform a wide variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in all areas of water, wastewater and landfill gas control system minor maintenance; receives training and learns safe operating procedures in water and wastewater treatment plants, water pumping stations, dams, landfill gas control systems and chemical feeding plant operations; does other related work as required. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. No experience required. A valid driver’s license is required at the time of application.
