1. Transfer Application
You must submit a transfer application in order to transfer outside of your department. Human Resources will review your transfer application for eligibility and notify you of your status. Your name will be placed on a transfer list(s) for six months as long as you continue to be eligible for transfer. You may not be notified when the six-month period has expired. If you wish to extend your eligibility for another six months, you must contact Human Resources at (209) 468-3370. If accepted, Human Resources will send your name to County department(s) who request names from the transfer list to fill their positions. You may not be notified of this referral. It is the discretion of the hiring department whether they choose to interview transfer employees.
Transfer Requirements
In order to qualify, you must meet ALL of the following criteria:

You must be a permanent or probationary county employee(subject to MOU criteria).

Have 12 months of continuous civil service status (excludes temporary, part-time, and contract employees)
-
Have a rating of satisfactory on the last performance evaluation
-
The salary grade of the transfer class must be the equivalent to or lower than your current salary grade

2. San Joaquin General Hospital (SJGH) employees only
a. SJGH full-time transfer opportunities
This section is for current full-time employees of San Joaquin General Hospital (SJGH) who wish to transfer to a different department within SJGH. Human Resources will review your application for eligibility and notify you of your status.

The salary grade must be the equivalent to or lower than your current salary grade.

3. Block-Budgeted Promotion
This section is for regular San Joaquin County employees who have been approved for a Block-Budgeted promotion and have been asked to complete an application. Please print a copy of your block-budgeted application to provide to your department if it is requested.

4. Reinstatement Application
This section is for former regular San Joaquin County employees who wish to reinstate to a classification held previously.
Reinstatement Requirements
In order to qualify for consideration for reinstatement, you must meet ALL of the following criteria:

Completed 12 months of continuous civil service (excludes temporary, part-time, and contract employees)
-
Must have resigned within the last three years
-
Must have resigned in good standing
-
There are less than three names on a promotional eligible list in the reinstatement class
-
There is a vacant position
-
The reinstatement is recommended by the hiring department
-
May only reinstate into a class you last held permanent status
-
Acceptance of reinstatement to any class is a waiver of any potential reinstatement to other classes. Reinstatement will be granted in only one class.

5. Reemployment Application

7. Reclassification Application
This section is for San Joaquin County employees who have been a part of a classification study which has been adopted by the Board of Supervisors.
