Healthcare Grounds Aide (#TC9271)



DEFINITION

Under immediate supervision, assists staff in performing grounds keeping tasks following standardized procedures, and performs other and related work as required.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

An employee in this class performs assigned grounds keeping and maintenance duties.

TYPICAL DUTIES

  • Collects trash and other debris from outer buildings of Health Care Services.
  • Maintains appearance of Health Care Services grounds.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience:  Must be a full time consumer of the Mental Health Activity Center.

     

     

     

    KNOWLEDGE

    Methods and techniques of trash removal and basic grounds duties.

     

     

    ABILITY

    Follow oral instructions; perform basic grounds work; use tools in trash removal and basic grounds care; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; communicate orally.

     

    PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

    Mobility-Constant walking and bending/squatting; frequent sitting/standing for long periods of time; occasional pushing/pulling, stair climbing and crawling.  Frequency of Lifting-Frequent lifting of 5 to 30 lbs.; occasional lifting of 30 to 70 lbs.  Visual Requirements-Constant use of overall vision, hand/eye coordination, depth perception and use of field of vision/peripheral vision.  Dexterity-Constant holding, grasping and reaching; occasional repetitive motion.  Hearing/Talking-Constant hearing of normal speech and talking in person; frequent hearing faint sounds.  Emotional/Psychological Factors-Occasional public contact.  Environmental Conditions-Frequent exposure to noise; occasional exposure to dirt, dust, smoke, fumes, poor ventilation, cold, heat and rain.
