San Joaquin County Public Works Department is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Engineer with excellent communication and leadership skills to join its management team. The Engineer V will function as a Division Manager who is responsible for planning, coordinating, directing and supervising the work of a Public Works engineering division. The incumbent will also support department management in areas of personnel, budgeting, planning, and policy/procedure development.
The ideal candidate will possess knowledge and experience in the workings of local government; have a background in traffic/transportation engineering and the ability to apply these principals. Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) are a must as the position requires interaction/communication with the public and various local and state agencies. The candidate must be able to work in a dynamic setting to effectively support the Department’s needs. Familiarities with transportation funding, project development, and/or traffic safety are a plus.
