INTRODUCTION

 

Job Title: Senior Security Engineer

The Senior Security Engineer reports to the Technical Project Manager through the Infrastructure Lead-Principal Engineer and is responsible for developing and implementing security policies and procedures (e.g., user log-on and authentication rules, security breach escalation procedures, security auditing procedures, and use of firewalls and encryption routines) for the Project eMerge infrastructure. This infrastructure requires resilience and survivability to support an enterprise PeopleSoft web-facing application, Oracle database and Oracle WebLogic web servers. The PeopleSoft system will run on three IBM BladeCenter chassis’, 34 IBM BladeServers, embedded Cisco Intelligent Gigabit Ethernet Switch Modules, Cisco 6509 switch, Cisco ACE Web Firewall Module, Cisco ACE Firewall Switch Module, Load Balancers and Cisco ACE Intrusion Prevention Modules.  As the Senior Security Engineer, your job will be to identify security exposures and recommend controls for new or changing security technologies, prepare status reports on security matters and develop security risk analysis and response procedures. The Senior Security Engineer will work closely with the Senior Network Engineer to enforce security policies and procedures by administering and monitoring security profiles and updating and maintaining document security controls. You will collaborate with other Infrastructure team members and City of San Francisco IT professionals to implement security-based technologies and to present requirements and designs. You will be responsible for maintaining HIPAA regulatory compliance and conducting security audits.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain this would be: three to four years of directly related experience that demonstrates a wide range of knowledge and abilities of the application programming function.

 

Training: Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science, business administration, or a closely related field.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

·         Over seven years network experience with an enterprise-level network in a design and security role.

·         Senior-level operational experience securing enterprise web-facing applications.

·         Excellent knowledge of network protocols and standards.

·         Experience with ACE contexts, IPS devices, and virtualized firewall, system logging.

·         Vulnerability scanners, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows 2003 server hardening and network hardening.

·         PGP and encryption methodology.

·         Strong written and oral English-language skills to clearly present security solutions.

·         Ability to work in a team environment.

·         Certifications such as CCSP/CISSP (or equivalent training/experience) are preferred.

DISASTER SERVICE WORKERS

All City and County of San Francisco employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.

BENEFITS

All employees hired on or after January 10, 2009 will be required (pursuant to San Francisco Charter Section A8.432) to contribute 2% of pre-tax compensation to fund retiree healthcare. In addition, most employees are required to make a member contribution towards retirement, typically a 7.5% of compensation.
