This is a Position-Based Test conducted in accordance with the Civil Service Rule 111A.

 

General Description:

Under general direction of the Senior IT Manager, this position independently provides Systems Administration support for the Department of Public Health (DPH) Enterprise Datacenter.  DPH system users depend on the operation of this facility and the services provided by this position.  The 1094 IT Operations Support Administrator IV is the primary resource for the Symantec enterprise backup environment for the Data Center located at 1380 Howard Street, San Francisco.  This position is responsible for backups, restoration, backup media, process management, hardware and software supporting enterprise backup.  This position acts as 2nd level support for the DPH e-mail environment on Lotus Notes/Domino.  This position will also maintain and develop the DPH IT Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Plan. 

 

The IT Operations Support Administrator IV will:

  • Perform administrative functions supporting Symantec NetBackup environment.
  • Perform regularly scheduled backups and archives, and tape management functions, including offsite storage for backup tapes.
  • Be responsible for acquiring bids for hardware, software, maintenance, and professional services as related to job duties.
  • Work in Asset Management, Business Continuity, Emergency Response, and Disaster Recovery.
  • Install, configure, repair, maintain and upgrade hardware and peripherals and install and enhance applications.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

1. Possession of a Bachelor’s (BA/BS) degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, information systems or closely related field;  AND

2. Possession of four (4) years of Windows Workstation and Server experience in a Local-Area Network and Help Desk environment.

 

Substitution:
Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis.  Thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units equal one year.

 Desirable Qualifications:

WRITTEN EXAMINATION (Weight – 100%)

Disaster Service Workers

All City and County of San Francisco employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the City requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.

Benefits

 

All employees hired on or after January 10, 2009 will be required (pursuant to San Francisco Charter Section A8.432) to contribute 2% of pre-tax compensation to fund retiree healthcare.
