The current position is located at the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. The eligible list resulting from this examination may be utilized for future positions in this class in other City departments.
POSITION INFORMATION:
Under general direction the Manager Field Operations and Business Development assists, develops and implements goals, objectives and priorities of the Power Enterprise. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, directing and reviewing the operation and services of the Operation Section, Redevelopment Section, and Community Choice Aggregation Program including development and implementation of program budgets and directing staff. The incumbent will monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the division’s organizational structure, staff assignments, service levels and administrative systems, identify and analyze opportunities for improvement as well as implement improvements. Interacts with other SFPUC staff, Commission, other City departments; local, state, and federal authorities in addressing the energy needs of the City. Supervises the development of distribution services including service connection policies and procedures, electric rate policies and procedures, staffing needs and associated administrative systems. Supervises the development and implementation of the public program, including Hunters Point, Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island. Manages short-term implementation of utility services and long-term development of infrastructure improvements at Hunters Point Shipyard (HPS), Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Island (TII/YBI), and Mission Bay (MB). Oversees the management of the operation and maintenance of electrical and natural gas systems at TI and YBI.
Note: The normal annual salary range is $131,326 to $167,596. Appointments above the normal range may be considered based on documented and substantiated recruitment and retention issues or exceptional skills, and require a special approval process. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical), Economics, Power Policy, Planning, Business Administration, Public Administration or other related field; AND
2. Five (5) years as a program manager in a public or private electric utility or multi-building facility responsible for power operations management including but not limited to operating and maintaining transmission and distribution systems of electrical and natural gas systems.
SUBSTITUTION: Additional verifiable experience as described above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
