The 9116 Senior Fare Collections Receiver is the first-level supervisory job code in the Fare Collections Receiver series. It is distinguished from 9110 Fare Collections Receiver in that the latter does not have supervisory responsibility and from 9117 Principal Fare Collections Receiver in that the latter is the second-level supervisory position with responsibility for the activities of all the three units. Work is performed in a variety of settings, depending upon work assignment.

1. Supervises and performs the collection of revenue from revenue sources in various locations, using a variety of equipment; this includes revenue processing, balancing, reconciliation, and accounting as well as selling, packaging, distributing, and collecting revenue from fare media. 2. Purchases, controls and maintains inventory records of fare media, coins/tokens, related revenue items, keys, materials, supplies, and equipment. |
Knowledge of: policies and procedures necessary to safely collect and accurately account for, large sums of money including enforcing existing policies and assisting in developing/implementing new procedures; basic accounting principles including bookkeeping and debit/credit procedures.
Skill to: perform math and computational skills used in cash processing, balancing, and reconciliation (with or without use of a calculator) and to maintain accurate and comprehensive accounting records; promote diversity in interactions with others; establish rapport; exercise tact, self-restraint and persuasion in dealing with a variety of people; maintain a professional manner and demeanor.
Ability to: use, maintain, adjust or make minor repairs to equipment and machinery related to collection and processing of fares; supervise, plan, assign and review work of subordinates; maximize use of resources, time and personnel; structure and encourage a professional work environment, train new personnel on policies and procedures; write clearly and effectively; document information; maintain appropriate and accurate records; read and comprehend written documents; speak directly, clearly, and courteously; listen with comprehension and follow oral/verbal instruction; interact courteously and effectively with internal and external customers; lift and carry revenue containers weighing up to 75 lbs.; drive a variety of vehicles involved in the collection and transportation of revenue; use a computer to prepare schedules, payroll and reports as well as use computer programs related to the collection of fare media sales.

1. Four (4) years of verifiable full-time experience within the last five (5) years in the daily collection, processing and balancing of large amounts of cash; OR 2. Two years of experience in class 9110 Fare Collections Receiver with the City & County of San Francisco; AND
