THE JOB: Under general supervision, conduct routine administrative studies and analyses and make recommendations on systems and procedures, organization or budgets; coordinate and monitor less complex projects; and do other work as required.
THE REQUIREMENTS: Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain these would be:
Completion of college level coursework related to the knowledge and abilities listed below.
OR
Two years of responsible clerical experience at the journey level or higher.
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge: Working knowledge of office procedures and practices. Some knowledge of work organization and simplification; the principles and techniques of procedures and systems analysis; the principles of administration and management; basic budgetary accounting practices may be required for certain positions; application of statistical methods to research may be required for certain positions; and the principles and methods of data processing business applications.
Ability to: Investigate and analyze basic administrative, operational, programmatic or other problems; collect, organize, interpret and analyze data; use independent judgment to identify and analyze problems and recommend and implement solutions; coordinate and monitor less complex projects; establish and maintain cooperative relationships with others; prepare and present clear and concise oral and written reports; understand, interpret, explain and apply laws, rules and policies; apply and interpret basic statistical measures may be required for certain positions; and operate word processing equipment or computers to input, access, analyze and print a variety of data may be required for certain positions.
THE EXAMINATION: Your application and supplemental application will be reviewed to determine if you have met the education, experience, training and/or licensing requirements as stated on the job announcement. If you meet these criteria and are one of the best qualified, you may be required to compete in any combination of written, oral and/or performance examinations or a competitive evaluation of training and experience as described on your application and supplemental application. You must pass all components of the examination to be placed on the eligible list. The examination may be eliminated if there are ten or fewer qualified applicants. If the eligible list is established without the administration of the announced examination, the life of the eligible list will be six months and your overall score will be based upon an evaluation of your application and supplemental application. If during those six months it is necessary to administer another examination for this job class, you will be invited to take the examination to remain on the eligible list.
