THE JOB: Under direction, provide administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, analysis and testing of departmental network and server hardware and software. The current vacancy is for the Human Services Department where the primary job focus will be the administration and support of technologies used by the Department’s call center. This includes call flow configuration using Avaya Contact Center Elite and support of the Verint Impact 360 call quality and workforce management hardware and software. As part of the Department’s network and server support team, this position will also provide support for other Windows applications, server and network hardware and software, do other work as required, and participate in the afterhours on call rotation. The list of candidates developed from this recruitment may be used to fill additional vacancies in the future so both individuals with the specific call center technology skills and those with more generalized network and server skills are encouraged to apply.
THE REQUIREMENTS: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain these would be:
Equivalent to graduation from college or completion of college level courses in systems analysis, computer science, office automation, information processing, data processing or a closely related field and two years of experience in the analysis, development and implementation of automated office systems,
OR
Three years of experience performing both technical support and training in the use of a wide variety of computer hardware and software for automated office systems which included modifying, reprogramming or interfacing office automation software or application environments.
Knowledge: Working knowledge of the uses and limitations of micro, mini and mainframe computer applications;capabilities, limitations and system requirements of a variety of software packages used to support automated office systems; principles and methods of systems and procedures analysis; office automation programming and command languages and tools used to modify or interface software and hardware; principles and methods of automated records management systems; training design and delivery; principles and techniques of automated information entry, storage and retrieval; and the hardware in the assigned department. Some knowledge of the principles and methods of supervision.
Ability to: Define problem areas, collect and evaluate data, validate conclusions and make appropriate recommendations; design, present and evaluate training; communicate with departmental managers and staff not familiar with data processing and translate their needs into automated office system requirements; analyze business problems and develop office automation applications; read and interpret a wide variety of technical manuals and instructions designed for the operation of computer software and hardware; estimate and meet project time lines; identify and take corrective actions to solve software and hardware problems; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; plan, coordinate and initiate actions necessary to implement recommendations; write clear, concise and detailed instructions and procedures, and prepare systems and programming documentation; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

You must pass all components of the examination to be placed on the eligible list. The examination may be eliminated if there are ten or fewer qualified applicants. If the eligible list is established without the administration of the announced examination, the life of the eligible list will be six months and your overall score will be based upon an evaluation of your application and supplemental application. If during those six months it is necessary to administer another examination for this job class, you will be invited to take the examination to remain on the eligible list.
