Machine Operator

 

 

WMC Steel, SC, LLC is a manufacturer of high carbon steel pre-stressed concrete strand locating a facility in St. Matthews, SC.   Their parent company, Wire Mesh Corp. is a leading producer of quality Welded Wire Mesh, Pencil Rod, Bright Basic Wire and PC Strand serving the entire United States from several facilities.

 

OVERVIEW:  Responsible for full life cycle of machine in regards to production, performance, and maintenance. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate equip by following technical specifications and supervisory instruction to produce quality product efficiently and effectively.
  • Monitor course of production, reporting malfunctions and production errors.
  • Maintain machine by repairing issues and performing preventative maintenance.
  • Update equipment as needed to keep functioning efficiently.
  • Forklift operation as needed to perform job.
  • Maintain safe work environment.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Other duties as instructed by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals. 
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. 
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
  • Distance Vision (clear vision at 20 feet of more)

  • This position works in an environment with a loud noise level.  (Examples: jack hammer work, front row at a rock concert.)
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to vibrations.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold and heat (non-weather), the risk of electrical shock, and works in high precarious places.

Starting wage:  $13 - $16/ hour, depending upon experience

Pre-Employment drug screens will be required.
