Shipping Clerk

 

 Job Duties:

 
 
  • Process incoming and outgoing appointment reservations efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Assign and keep track of dock door assignments.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all documents.
  • Work closely and effectively with shift supervisors, lead warehouse associates, customer service, warehouse associates and truck drivers.
  • Prepare Bills of Lading, packing lists and any other documents needed for outbound shipments.
  • Verify that all pallets assigned to an outbound load have been scanned out of the warehouse management system to ensure accuracy of order and inventory.
  • Confirm with truck drivers the temperature on all refer units.
  • Verify destination of the shipment and if multiple stops are required and the order of the stops.
  • Verify if there is any other product in the trailer of an outbound shipment and how to configure the pallets in the trailer.
  • Apply seals on all outbound shipments.
  • Update supervisors with loading delays to avoid detention charges.
  • Verify and record the temperature of the trailer and the seal on all shipments.
  • Verify the items and quantities on the inbound bill of lading matches what the warehouse associate actually unloads from the trailer.
  • Prepare FedEx and UPS loads that require ice packs or other special instructions.
  • Receive packages from FedEx and UPS and ensure they get to the recipient in the company. Provide assistance when needed to the warehouse associates. This may entail working on the dock to apply stickers, audit an order for accuracy, load or unload trailers, put pallets away in racks. 
  • Compile all paperwork associated with inbound and outbound orders and sort and segregate based upon the CSR for the account.
  • Update receipts and re-commit orders as needed for CSR’s.
  • Effectively communicate information to truck drivers regarding their shipment.
  • Comply with all OSHA Standards and utilize the MSDS as needed.
  • Comply with all Company work rules, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain high level of attendance, report for work on time daily.
  • Work required over time as required by supervisor, flexibility to work other shifts as required by supervisor.
  • Maintain personal hygiene and work area to meet sanitation standards of Company, adhere to all Good Warehousing Practices and Food Safety Guidelines, examples: cleaning up spills promptly, clean as you go, no cross contamination of products, not shipping damaged product, no eating or drinking in the warehouse.
  • Comply with all HACCP guidelines and control points.
  • Work with supervisor and all warehouse staff to ensure the security of the building by questioning anyone who is in the warehouse without a security badge.
  • Maintain a professional attitude among co-workers and visitors to the facility.

 

 

  Requirements:

 

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year shipping clerk experience. 
  • Ability to work any shift
  • Position may require frequently lifting up to 25 pounds.
