EHS/HR Specialist

 

 

 Qualifications and requirements include:

 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene or Safety, Physical or Life Sciences, Engineering or related field OR Associate’s degree in the above with 4 years of experience OR High School diploma (or GED) with 6+ years of experience from an accredited college or university
  • 2+ years of safety experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years of experience with Federal and State OSHA and SC DHEC regulations including, but not limited to, machine guarding, lock out/tag out, cranes, mobile equipment, confined space, respirators, fall protection, hazardous communications, hearing conservation, personal protective equipment and emergency preparedness.
  • Perform risk analysis and safety inspections on an on-going basis; Track and report metrics indicative of safety performance
  • Participate in incident investigations, determine root causes and follow-up on corrective actions
  • Develop, implement and influence a proactive safety culture at the plant
  • Develop and implement company risk management program in coordination with corporate guidelines
  • Develop, conduct and coordinate safety training and communication programs
  • Create and maintain appropriate injury reporting database and perform routine data validation
  • Create and lead the plant's safety committee and participate in systematic area safety team improvements; engage the committee in proactive ergonomics assessments
  • Serve as active audit team member in internal/external audits of OSHA and SC DHEC compliance
  • Develop and implement programs / procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and reduce occupational hazards associated with plant operations
  • Coordinate all Emergency Preparedness and Response activities and training
  • Establish and maintain plant safety/environmental policies and procedures, in compliance with State, Federal, and local regulations (i.e. OSHA, SC DHEC)
  • Conduct industrial hygiene sampling to identify and correct potential health hazards.
  • Assists with the worker’s compensation process, including coordinating treatment and return to work for injured employees.
  • Defines and reviews safety and health requirements for contractors and suppliers
  • Works closely with the HR Manager to provide the appropriate support in the areas of Benefits, Recruiting and Onboarding.
  • Maintains positive relations by working with all levels of managers and employees.
  • Performs other related functions as required to achieve department and site objectives.
