Forge associates will be responsible for setting up, operating and troubleshooting Forge equipment which produce various components and products at Apex Tool Group. The incumbent’s performance directly affects the efficiency of the overall department and plant.

Key Responsibilities

• Work closely with Team Leads and Supervisors to understand production needs
• Set up and operate Forge hammers to shape and stamp steel into various products
• Manually clean and prepare dies for insertion into Forge hammers to perform changeovers
• Operates forklifts and other equipment as needed to change dies in and out of Forge hammers
• Make adjustments in die preparation to ensure machines are set up properly to run quality parts
• Read and interpret blueprints to determine if parts meet internal and external specifications
• Record data as it relates to productivity and first article inspections of parts run
• Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed in the respective work area
• Other duties as required to successfully perform the job

Critical Skills & Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Proficiency in basic mathematical skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
• Knowledge and understanding of mechanical equipment and preventative maintenance
• Ability to read, interpret and understand blueprints at different levels within manufacture
• Able to work in a hot environment for an extended period of time in all required PPE
• Able to bend, twist, turn and squat when doing inspections and completing set-ups
• Able to stand for long periods of time
• Able to lift 50 lbs frequently

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior work experience in the Forge industry or using steel within daily work, such as welding
• Previous forklift experience
