Warehouse/Inventory Specialist

 

  

 

Job Description:  The Warehouse/Inventory Specialist is responsible for communicating internally and externally and following up with the status of container transporting.

Job Purpose:  Employee must understand and gain knowledge on various types of raw material.   Must accurately document receiving of materials/product in order to maintain integrity of inventory control, and insures delivery of materials/product to the proper department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Monitor the unloading of all materials into the receiving department.
  • Ensure materials received are accurately reported. Resolve discrepancies with accounting regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiver reports
  • Examine shipment contents and compare with records such as manifests, invoices, or purchase orders to verify accuracy. Responsible for the management of all required documentation: Bill of Lading, material specs
  • Coordinate with Quality Control to ensure raw material meets required specifications
  • Confer or correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications
  • Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for delivery of materials and arrange transport of containers
  • Control logistics costs
  • Communicate both internally and externally to ensure efficient and expedited arrival
  • Coordinate with Freight Forwarding Broker and Customs as needed and closely monitor the status of containers in transit, communicate with trucks along with the import follow up person and control the rhythm of container arrivals
  • Follow up on the entire process of each container’s arrival and record the actual material received.
  • Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related duties and needed

 

 

 

  

 Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree in Business or Logistics a plus
  • 3 - 5 years of proven experience in an industrial or manufacturing warehouse environment
  • SAP experience highly preferred
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Above average communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Basic math skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Previous experience with international shipments highly desirable
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs continuously;  50 lbs frequently
