ASSEMBLER 3

The Assembler 3 assembles aerospace structural sections including parts, subassemblies and components. Level 4 has skills to build any job in assembly & able to set-up new jobs with minimal direction. Also able to troubleshoot and interpret drawings and specifications at highest level to meet customer requirements.

 

Education, Skills and Experience:    

    

Preferred

 

  • 2 years previous assembly experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Ability to follow work instructions without supervision
  • Ability to perform basic functions with MS windows-based computer operating systems, such as opening and closing files
  • G.E.D. or higher

Required:

 

  • Completion of AMT aptitude test during interview process

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

 
  • Performs any and all assembly tasks with a highest level of skill.
  • Performs daily tasks without supervision.
  • Installs units, parts, equipment, and components in structural assembly, according to blueprints and specifications, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Bolts, screws, or rivets accessories to fasten, support, or hang components and subassemblies.
  • Drills holes in structure and subassemblies, and attaches brackets, hinges, or clips to secure installation or to fasten subassemblies.
  • Locates and marks reference points and holes for installation of parts and components, using jigs, templates, and measuring instruments.
  • Inspects and tests installed units, parts, and equipment for fit, performance, and compliance with standards, using measuring instruments and test equipment.
  • Positions and aligns subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, using measuring instruments, following blueprint lines and index points.
  • Cuts, trims, and files parts, and verifies fitting tolerances to prepare for installation.
  • Installs bushings using liquid nitrogen or presses as required.
  • Applies sealants or paint per customer specifications using proper safety devices.

 

Job Description

 

  • Uses shop equipment needed to complete operations, such as C-squeeze, arbor presses, ground stud puller, cherry pullers, and shop hand tools.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications using standard measuring tools as required.
  • Reads and interprets manufacturing drawings at highest level.
  • Meets job standard times without supervision. Comes up with new methods to reduce labor hours on jobs.
  • Performs work instructions completely.
  • Follows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Follows 5-S procedures & works in organized manner. Makes recommendations & takes initiative to improve area.
  • Operates all machinery and tools required to assemble products.
  • Is able to proof First Run jobs and gives feedback to Supervisor & Planning in order to optimize assembly process and meet engineering specifications.
  • Recommends new designs concepts for tooling and assembly jigs.
  • Analyses and solves assembly problems with a high level of skill.
  • Accurately performs minor maintenance repairs on all air tools.
  • Able to research and recommend solutions for Corrective Actions.
  • Able to assist and train other co-workers as requested.

  • Communicates well verbally and in writing.
  • Mechanically inclined, with good manual dexterity.

 

Physical Demands:

 

 

  • Lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Standing, sitting and walking throughout the workday
  • Correctable vision that allows employee to perform accurate assembly work

 

Work Environment:

  • Access to our facility (and, therefore, employment) is restricted under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) to U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents of the United States and properly licensed foreign persons. Applicants receiving a conditional offer of employment will be required to provide information to determine whether they are subject to these regulations and, if so, to assess their country of chargeability for export control purposes.
  • The Assembly 1 works in the Assembly environment throughout the workday; this environment may include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, etc.
  • Possible skin and inhaled contact may occur with various sealants, paints, adhesives, liquid nitrogen, MEK, and chemicals used during assembly or cleaning of parts.
  • Safety training is required and provided by the Company in accordance with applicable law, industry standards, and Company policy.

Training will be at no charge to trainees.
