M-E-C is an 80 year old multinational organization that designs, manufactures and services industrial dryer systems and heat energy units, bins, screens conveyors and pneumatic systems for the processing of a wide range of wet materials. The company’s market consists of forestry, agribusiness, food process, biomass energy and waste residuals industries. This organization is expanding its operations to the Charleston Area and is currently looking to fill the previously listed positions.

CAD Operator II

 

Requirements:

  • Responsible for effectively executing 3-D models, fabrication, submittal, and/or installation drawings according to strict deadlines.
  • Work from sketches, computer models, and verbal information supplied by an engineer, customer, or designer to determine the most appropriate views, detail drawings, and supplementary information needed to complete assignments
  • Creates complex 3D parametric models containing fully defined properties and attributes
  • Applies knowledge and skill in drafting methods and ANSI standards to prepare complex engineering and technical drawings from 3D parametric models (three dimensional drawings and developing modeling aids) for structural, mechanical, or electrical equipment, systems, and assemblies
  • Work excellent knowledge of the terms and procedures including but not limited to rolled steel, sheet metal for industrial steel fabrication and other steel components
  • Utilize ANSI standards in creating drawings with utilization of standard scaling methods
  • Interact with engineering, purchasing and production support staff
  • Unfamiliar assignments include information on methods, procedures, sources of information, and precedents to follow, simple revisions to existing drawings or computer models may be assigned with a verbal explanation of the desired results
  • Make more complex revisions that are produced from sketches, computer models or specifications that clearly depict the desired product
  • Develop accurate Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Create accurate notes consisting of information pertaining only to what is on each single page of each drawing
  • Help manage drawing release procedures
  • Help manage document control procedures
  • Self-check work & check other drafters’ work
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor as needed
  • Self-Check work and other CAD Operators’ drawings for accuracy
  • Deliver fabrication drawings with accurate BOM on-time using as many resources as needed
  • Meet strict deadlines
  • Contribute to the company's overall success
  • Standardize product lines with attention to value engineering

    Skills/Qualifications: 

 

  • A. S. Degree in CADD Technology or Engineering Technology.
  • 8-10 years related work experience using AutoCAD and Solidworks in a steel fabrication environment
  • Proficient in all 2D CAD and 3D solid modeling parametric CAD techniques.
  • Working knowledge of mathematics, trigonometry, and engineering technology
  • Excellent ability to take and apply instruction as well adapt quickly, as instruction changes
  • High level of attention to detail with consistency
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing,  computer, and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong ability to adapt to change
