Accounts Specialist

Job Requirements and Duties:

 

Responsible for HR and Accounts Payable duties within the Signode Industrial Group business unit in Chapin, South Carolina.  This position will report to the Plant Manager and will be tasked with processing new hires, merit increases, terminations, short term disability, workers compensation claims, benefits and maintaining personnel files.  In this role, the Account Specialist will be responsible for matching invoices to purchase orders, accurately keying high dollar invoices into the accounting system, processing low dollar invoices using corporate credit card, coding credit card statements and writing up journal entries, researching vendor and internal calls regarding the status of invoices.

In addition, the Accounts Specialist will be responsible for maintaining the front office-answering phones, greeting visitors/vendors, distribute mail and ordering office supplies, processing employees time and uploading bi-weekly payroll using Ceridian  payroll system, preparing pre-employment background checks and drug test screenings, performing new hire orientation, processing I-9’s thru E- Verify and scheduling required training.

Additional Duties Include:

  • Prepare ad’s and internal postings for job openings
  • Inform managers when performance reviews are due and process them accordingly
  • Assist with Short Term Disability and Workers’ Compensation claims
  • Maintain OSHA programs and 300 log
  • Provide administrative support to the Plant Manager

The following skills are required:

 

  • Possess a two year degree in a related field
  • Three to five years of previous experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office and SharePoint).
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental programs.
  • Excel in organizational and management skills.
  • Must be flexible in handling a variety of assignments.
