Quality Assurance Technician

 

 

 

Purpose

Collect process control data and other observational information for decision making involving the quality of Sweet Street products.  Assure that the highest quality product standards are maintained.

 

Responsibilities:    

 

  • Perform established process quality checks as required, including:
    • Raw material receiving – inspections, sampling, testing
    •  In-process checks – as per product specifications
    • Finished product checks – as per product/customer specifications
  • Sampling and Sample Retention – as per product/customer specifications
  • Implement formulation audits.
  • Implement general sanitation compliance inspections on line.
  • Conduct quality audit checks on suspect products pulled from stock.
  • Identify quality defects, trace to source, and report findings.
  • Conduct testing, sanitation, micro, TPC, Bacteriological monitoring and coordinate with external labs.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Assist with collection of data and analysis for process improvement and quality compliance
  • Assist Quality and Sanitation Manager in on-going development of Quality Systems, including certification requirements
  • Other Quality responsibilities as assigned.
  • Food Safety

 

  

 

Requirements and Qualifications: 

 

 

  • 2-3 years related experience in food manufacturing or similar manufacturing  environment.
  • Excellent organizational abilities, written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills and analytical ability.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Proven ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of various chocolate processes and experience in finishing process preferred.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of SSD employees.
  • Strong attention for accuracy and detail.
  • Must be able to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to communicate in English (read, write and converse) in order to receive written and verbal job and safety instructions, comprehend hazardous material labeling, follow production schedule, and prepare graphs, weights and other production reports as required.

 

 

 Position is first shift with mandatory overtime.
