Haile Gold Mine

 

 

Under the ownership of Oceana Gold, the Haile Gold Mine of Lancaster County, South Carolina is transforming regional economic development while setting new standards for environmental protection throughout the industry.

By applying proven, modern technology and eco-friendly practices that go beyond regulatory requirements, millions of dollars are being invested in the community to build the mine and extract its estimated 30.5 million tonnes at 2.06 g/t for 2 million ounces of gold reserves(1). When all is said and done, more than 800 jobs will be created in an effort to make the Haile Gold Mine the most productive mine of its kind east of the Mississippi River – and the industry’s most environmentally sound operation throughout the United States. Equipment Operator V

 

 

 Qualifications and requirements include:

 

  • Mobile equipment operations experience 
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written  work instructions and procedures in English 
  • Ability to perform and communicate all duties and activities in a manner which conforms to the company safety and environmental standards. 
  • Good vision, both day and night
  • Ability to work safely wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment 
  • High school diploma, equivalent or higher education  
  • Must demonstrate the ability to operate a haul truck plus a water truck, and two pieces of support equipment (one of which may be a loading tool)
  • Must complete site specific hazard training
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete training programs per the training policy

Physical Requirements

 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see  
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 25 pounds) during the course of the workday  
  • Work is in an open pit mine setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity  
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, safety-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required  
  • Oceana Gold promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing
