Under the ownership of Oceana Gold, the Haile Gold Mine of Lancaster County, South Carolina is transforming regional economic development while setting new standards for environmental protection throughout the industry.

By applying proven, modern technology and eco-friendly practices that go beyond regulatory requirements, millions of dollars are being invested in the community to build the mine and extract its estimated 30.5 million tonnes at 2.06 g/t for 2 million ounces of gold reserves⁽¹⁾. When all is said and done, more than 800 jobs will be created in an effort to make the Haile Gold Mine the most productive mine of its kind east of the Mississippi River – and the industry’s most environmentally sound operation throughout the United States. ⁽¹⁾

Technical Services Manager

Basic Functions of the Position: 

• Manage and mentor a small highly committed technical team.
• Manage all aspects of reserve and resource statements of the operations.
• Manage the long term planning process and liaise with the particular heads of mining, processing and environmental to ensure an accurate and robust LOM scheduling process and forecasting. Manage the preparation of final and interim pit designs, and underground mine designs.
• Continually examine and document different long term designs and planning scenarios to ensure the financial benefits are optimized.
• Provide assistance to the operations on technical issues that arise and work towards assisting the mining managers to foresee looming issues in the technical areas.
• Undertake and manage the advancement of minor operations projects and studies, as directed.
• Project and resource management to ensure timely and cost effective project outcomes.
• Prepare resource statements, reserve statements, reports and LOM plan document with input from the relevant contributors.
• Comply with all safety requirements and observes all company policies and procedures.
• Carry out all other duties that may reasonably be required.

Requirements

• First Aid Certificate
• Full Manual Drivers License
• Degree in engineering or related fields of mining expertise
• Minimum fifteen years post graduate experience in Mining and mining related areas.
• Have a significant period of production experience, preferably in both open cut and underground environments.
• Have previous experience in mine studies and previous exposure to geotechnical, metallurgy, environmental, and financial data collection and interpretation, as well as cost control and management.
• Experience in a senior management role in the resources sector is highly desirable.
