Under the ownership of Ocean Gold, the Haile Gold Mine of Lancaster County, South Carolina is transforming regional economic development while setting new standards for environmental protection throughout the industry.

By applying proven, modern technology and eco-friendly practices that go beyond regulatory requirements, millions of dollars are being invested in the community to build the mine and extract its estimated 30.5 million tonnes at 2.06 g/t for 2 million ounces of gold reserves(1). When all is said and done, more than 800 jobs will be created in an effort to make the Haile Gold Mine the most productive mine of its kind east of the Mississippi River – and the industry’s most environmentally sound operation throughout the United States. Process Operations Supervisor

 

  

Job Summary:  This position is responsible for supervising hourly operations technicians . The supervisor must be able to focus on safety, environmental compliance, asset protection and production simultaneously. This is a hands-on supervisor role responsible for managing operations activities, which includes, but may not be limited to all of the gold processing facilities, tailing systems and water systems. This supervisor will interact with many different work groups and departments, and must be able to work well with others. During pre-production, this individual will be operating and maintaining the water treatment plant, assisting with pre-operation activities, assisting with commissioning and start-up activities, and providing site-wide operations support as needed. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITES I ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Actively drive HGM's behavior-based safety and environmental stewardship culture.
  • Fosters a high performance work environment that encourages employee ownership and participation in safety, environmental and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor operations technicians safely, responsibly, and efficiently .
  • Hands-on operation of process circu its as needed.
  • Ensure operation utilization to achieve safety, quality, and production targets.
  • Actively identifies and addresses opportunities for improvement.
  • Conducts pre-shift tailgate and weekly safety meetings.
  • Provides work assignments to operations technicians.
  • Approve time sheets and requests for time-off.
  • Operates equipment, as required .
  • Oversees contractors, as required.
  • Ensures equipment and operator availabil ity to achieve safety, quality, and production targets.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and ensures trai ning records are up to date and accurate.
  • Actively participates in Management Reviews and departmental general inspections .
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

 

 Requirements:

 

  • Proven commitment to behavioral based safety culture.
  • Proven ability to make sound recommendations for solving problems and increasing efficiency is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare clear, complete and concise correspondence and complete operating reports.
  • Proven ability to interact in a positive manner with technicians, management and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, schedule, assign, supervise, review and evaluate the work of a subordinate staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and effectively implement change.
  • Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate both orally and in writing in English.
  • Ability to troubleshoot process systems is beneficial.
  • Must be able to obtain Industrial Waste Water Treatment Plant Operators license.
  • Must be able to work well with others.
  • High school diploma or equivalent or higher education.
  • Industrial Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator's License is beneficial.
  • At least five (5) years of responsible supervisory experience in an industrial operation is preferred.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to use logical thinking to troubleshoot problems.
  • Ability to assess competing priorities and establish a clear plan for accomplishing multiple tasks.
  • Ability to assess operating data from multiple sources, identify trends and changing conditions, assess equipment problems, and take specific actions to maintain site-wide objectives.

 

 

Physical Demands: 

 

 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the course of the workday.
  • Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
