Under the ownership of Ocean Gold, the Haile Gold Mine of Lancaster County, South Carolina is transforming regional economic development while setting new standards for environmental protection throughout the industry.

By applying proven, modern technology and eco-friendly practices that go beyond regulatory requirements, millions of dollars are being invested in the community to build the mine and extract its estimated 30.5 million tonnes at 2.06 g/t for 2 million ounces of gold reserves(1). When all is said and done, more than 800 jobs will be created in an effort to make the Haile Gold Mine the most productive mine of its kind east of the Mississippi River – and the industry’s most environmentally sound operation throughout the United States. Maintenance Supervisor

  

Job Summary:  This position is responsible for directing the safe execution of mine maintenance activities.  Provide guidance to mine maintenance crew.  Coordinate with contractors, mine operations, and the technical services groups to achieve planned goals.

Functions of the Position:  

 

  • Ensure the safety of personnel by promoting safe work attitudes
  • Direct the prioritizing of work assignments to maximize employee productivity and optimize equipment utilization
  • Build effective working relationships with all departments through participation at meetings and promoting daily cooperative interaction
  • Provide leadership by administering fair and consistent personnel policy Provide leadership by setting goals and standards of performance in all areas
  • Ensure implementation of our comprehensive, work order-based, preventive maintenance program
  • Provide input for formulating and defining policy at the mine site level
  • Direct and monitor subordinates, observing their effectiveness and subsequently conducting performance reviews
  • Provide positive mentoring to less experienced mechanics Lead daily safety meetings
  • Review reports and work plans; perform spot inspections of equipment and work in your area
  • Plan and coordinate with the planner activities with operations department
  • Provide input for training to maximize growth and development of employees
  • Other duties as assigned

  Knowledge and Experience 

  • Must have excellent verbal and written and communication skills and good working knowledge of Word, Excel and MS Outlook
  • Must have working knowledge of CMMS Supervisory experience in a mining location
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices, laptop computers and software supplied by equipment manufactures
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum 5-7 years’ experience  in repair and maintenance of heavy equipment
  • A minimum of 3 years as a front line supervisor

Physical Demands:

 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 60 pounds) during the course of the workday.
  • Work is in a mine setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in the mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
