Under the ownership of Romarco Minerals, Inc., the Haile Gold Mine of Lancaster County will be the industry’s leader in environmentally sound and safe mining operations through applying proven, modern technology and eco-friendly practices that go beyond regulatory requirements.  Haile Gold Mine was one of America’s first operating gold mines.  After acquiring all necessary permits, the next phase of the project is to begin mining processes.

Job Summary:  Responsible for planning and supervising the material management functions of the operation, including warehousing, purchasing, inventory control, distribution and transportation.  

 

 

Basic Functions of the Position: 

 

 

  • Warehousing
  • Planning and supervising material management functions
  • Purchasing - Processes orders; adjusts inventory levels to optimize stock availability and avoid stock outs; establish new items into stock; expedite deliveries; respond to requests for priority orders; reconcile variances; co-ordinate the disposal of surplus or obsolete materials; and maintain current inventory catalogues and descriptions.
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory control of equipment parts, materials and general supplies.
  • Distribution and transportation
  • Vendor relations and negotiations  - Maintains liaison with users, buyers and suppliers, and may participate in tender evaluation and vendor selection
  • Forecasting demand
  • Policies and procedures
  • Other responsibilities and functions as assigned

 

 Requirements

 

  • Excellent computer skills used in all areas of an effective inventory control program.
  • Prefer knowledge of specific mine, process commodities, such as processing chemicals, grinding balls, diesel fuel, tires, and mill liners.
  • Ability to independently research and identify sources of supply, obtain price and delivery quotations directly or through tender offers, interview vendors, identify substitute products or services, expedite delivery and arrange transportation.
  • Four year degree and not less than 10 years progressively responsible materials management experience preferred.
  • A professional purchasing designation a plus.
  • A minimum of Five (5) years purchasing experience in a related field and an intermediate standing in a recognized professional purchasing program
  • Dealing with regulatory entities
  • Warehousing and purchasing in a mine or industrial work environment preferred.
  • A proven background in effectively leading a warehousing team.
  • Receiving, storing and issuing mine and mill materials and supplies, inventory control, cataloguing of materials and supplies, and training.
  • Providing input to surplus disposal, review and adjustment to inventory levels and warehouse layout.  
  • Must possess the ability to apply common sense or logic to a problem solving solution.
  • Member of professional affiliations, Purchasing Trade Associations a plus.
  • Acts in a manner that builds trust and demonstrates integrity
  • Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with others
  • Promotes high levels of accountability and employee empowerment
  • Committed to continuously improving the safe and efficient operation of the mine Acts with a sense of urgency when troubleshooting and resolving problems
  • Team building skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office  

 

 

Physical Demands:

 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 60 pounds) during the course of the workday.
  • Work is in a mine setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in the mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
