The Information Services Division (ISD) is seeking a full-time for an IT Desktop Server Support Supervisor at our Oklahoma City location, providing IT services to the Oklahoma Tax Commission  This is an unclassified position within Oklahoma state government.  OMES offers a comprehensive Benefits Packet and a salary up to $62,124 based on education and experience. 

The IT Desktop Server Support Supervisor is responsible for managing a staff of (9) nine Desktop & Server Support Technicians.  Incumbent is also responsible for managing all aspects of desktop and server software needs, hardware needs, storage requirements & backup and recovery planning.  The Incumbent must be able to interface with upper level management, and communicate with vendors and technical consultants and provide technical expertise with regard to all IT computer hardware, software and storage needs for the OTC.
 
The successful candidate must be a “hands-on” proven technical manager, with successful accomplishments building and establish a “best in class” PC & Server support group for a 1000+ user community.  The candidate must also have a background of successfully leading a group of high caliber IT professionals in a demanding and ever changing environment.  The right “technical” manager must have strong technical leadership and the ability to take ownership of technical resources, and the desktop and server enterprise.  Technical skills should be represented by at least five (5) years recent “hands-on” experience in an IT technical manager/supervisor capacity, along with industry recognized certifications earned through supporting and managing desktop operating systems (Windows 7), Windows Server Administration (2008/2012), Linux/Red Hat, and PC & server hardware/software.  The candidate must be a “hands-on” manager capable of to demonstrating technical expertise to others in installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading, all Windows desktops & server hardware and software to ensure optimal systems performance. The right candidate must promote the practice and delivery of IT customer service in a service-oriented environment.  The manager must possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and have the ability to set the example for a successful team environment and collaboration. The manager must be able to establish a career path for IT staff members and be intimately involved in staff professional maturity.  The ability to train others and promote knowledge transfer is a plus.

Principal Activities: 

•Manage and lead a PC & Server Support group of at least 10 desktop and server support IT professionals supporting a 1000+ user community
•Ability and experience evaluating IT professionals, and strategically and tactically carrying out IT staff development plans
•Responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting, enterprise Windows PCs, Servers and peripheral devices
•Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving systems issues through seasoned analytical and problem solving skills and experiences
•Responsible for implementing, maintaining and supporting, a successful 2003, Windows 7 Active Directory environment
•Responsible for supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and managing, a business critical Microsoft Exchange environment
•Responsible for coordinating with other IT Division functional areas and business units as necessary to maintain and support the enterprise Desktop and Server environment
•Responsibilities may require on call for after-hours emergencies and support
•Responsible for promoting teamwork and collaboration from not only within their group, but also across the division and organization, to handle complex Desktop/Server hardware and software problems and challenges.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•Experience managing and maintaining all Windows operations, including 2008/2012 Server, MS Exchange, VPN's, backups, Antivirus, Networking, active directory, and Outlook
•Experience managing and maintaining Linux/Unix, Red Hat Servers
•Experience managing and maintaining the implementation and support of a Windows 2003 Active Directory Network.
•Experience managing and maintaining MS Exchange, IIS, ISA, & SQL Servers
•Experience managing and maintaining MS Security (Patch Management) and recommended updates
•Experience managing and maintaining server virtualization (e.g. VMWare)
•Experience with MS Windows PC software programs, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Internet Explorer
•Experience with networking, including TCP/IP, WINS, DNS, and DHCP
•Experience with backup, restore, and disaster recovery methodologies
•Experience writing performance evaluations on technical professionals, and establishing development plans for position and career growth
•Strong, well-respected technical manager and leader, with a sense of ownership and personal responsibility

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree in Computer Science, MIS, CIS, or related discipline (other degreed disciplines will be considered if Microsoft Certifications are earned and minimum years of experience are met) And Microsoft  Certification in one or more of the following:

And

Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)
Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)
Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) or other comparable certifications.

And

A Minimum of five (5) years experience leading and managing Microsoft certified IT professionals in a “best-in-class” PC & Server Support organization.
