YOU'RE INVITED TO APPLY: The
Marin County Human Resources Department and the Marin County Department of
Health and Human Services (H&HS) are announcing an extra hire recruitment
for the position of Social Service Worker II. The current full time extra
hire vacancy is in the Division of Aging & Adult Services.
TENTATIVE EXAM SCHEDULE:
Applicants meeting the minimum qualifications will be notified to contact
the Health and Human Services Department for a selection interview in the
order their applications are received by the Human Resources Department.
NOTE: Applicants are
encouraged to apply early. This recruitment may close at any time once a
sufficient number of acceptable applications have been received.
DUTIES: Duties include but
are not limited to:

Provides services in a variety of complex, specialized
areas, including Adult Protective Services (APS); In Home Supportive
Services (IHSS); Intake; and Information and Referral.

Interviews clients and
evaluates problems presented; evaluates case situations to determine the
extent of social service needs of clients.

May perform initial
investigations of allegations of adult abuse; may provide protective
services to clients and community groups in individual or group situations.

Conducts social service
evaluations by assessing functional abilities and capacity of individuals to
remain living independently in their own homes by evaluating problems
presented and determining the extent of domestic and personal care needs of
clients.

Accepts referrals by
telephone and in-person to Adult Social Services Program.

Provides varied counseling
services to adult clients and their families; consults and cooperates with
representatives of other divisions of the department and community service
provision agencies and groups in carrying out case plans and providing
needed support services; makes appropriate referrals to other workers,
services and departments.

Acts as an advocate for the
client when necessary.

Assists in developing
community resources.

Prepares and maintains
casework records, court and other evaluative reports and relevant
correspondence; maintains accurate records and files.

May testify in court or at
administrative law hearings as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS): EITHER possession of a Master’s Degree in Social
Work OR a Master’s degree in a two year counseling program by the time of
appointment, OR possession of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with
coursework related to the field and four years of journey level social
casework experience of which two years were in adult social services at a
level comparable to the County’s classes of Social Service Worker I or
Social Service Worker I - Bilingual.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Successful candidates are subject to fingerprinting by the Sheriff’s
Department prior to appointment. |
