Nature of Work

The fundamental reason the classification exists is to mend and alter garments for county employees. Assigned work responsibilities include processing orders for tailoring, mending and altering garments, attaching items to garments, pressing garments, maintaining inventories, performing maintenance on equipment, etc. The employee reports to the Deputy Sheriff Major for the Administrative Division.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of paid work experience as a tailor making alterations and repairs to garments.

Special Requirements

Work part time hours.

Kind of Examination

Applications are being accepted to fill one current, part-time vacancy and any vacancies that may occur two years from the date of the established list of eligible candidates.  The current vacancy is with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Applicants will be screened and qualified based on the education and experience on the application. For this reason, applicants are urged to fill in the application form completely providing detailed information concerning the kinds of jobs they have held, the dates they held them, where and exactly what their duties were. Qualified candidates are certified as equally qualified.
