Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this position exists is to provide technical and administrative assistance to the Personnel Director.  The essential functions are:  performs personnel administration related functions; plans, organizes and directs the work of professional staff; maintains and administers pay and compensation plans; and provides technical advice and guidance in the area of test management.  The Assistant Personnel Director receives limited supervision from the Personnel Director and exercises independent judgment in conducting job functions.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Public or Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or university required, and a minimum of 10 years’ personnel administration experience, including five years developing and administering complex classification and selection procedures; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.

NOTE:   Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
