Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform administrative and supervisory work collecting current and delinquent taxes and fees.  Essential functions are:  researches and contacts business owners to collect delinquent taxes; maintains various financial and related records and prepares reports to document and account for tax collections and remittances; researches information for the public and others relative to taxes; works at the front counter as needed to assess property and collect taxes from walk-in customers; and supervises two or more employees in the processing of property redemption, the sale of manufactured home decals and in the collection of delinquent property taxes.  Employee reports to the Revenue Accounts Supervisor or Chief Clerk.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or G.E.D equivalency.   Three (3) years of experience to include at least two (2) years of experience in the Montgomery County Tax Collector or Tax Assessor Office, and one (1) year of closely related experience such as collecting delinquent accounts, personnel management and supervision, bookkeeping or experience resolving customer complaints or an equivalent combination of education and experience.   Must be bondable.

NOTE:  Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
