Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this job exists is to oversee and direct the jail operations and enforce city, state, and federal regulations, laws, and procedures regarding the incarceration and care of inmates.  The essential functions are: supervises staff; oversees facility operations; investigates and resolves complaints; develops and monitors facility policies and procedures; prepares and monitors budget; acts as the liaison between inmates and officers; and ensures the safety of staff and inmates. The Municipal Jail Warden supervises the Assistant Warden.  Supervision is provided by a Montgomery Police Department Deputy Chief or Division Commander.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have at least two years of progressively responsible administrative, management, and supervisory experience in a correctional facility at the level of Assistant Warden or higher to include monitoring budgets and development of new policies and procedures, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
