The fundamental reason this position exists is
to oversee the food services operations of food preparation and dining areas
within the city. The primary work responsibilities may include: supervises all Food Services staff in the
preparation, cooking and serving of meals, and cleaning facilities used by the
public; oversees daily operation of the Food Services staff; oversees ordering,
receipt and storage of food and cooking supplies, supervises or assists in the
ordering, receipt and storage of food and cooking supplies; assists in the
selection and training of staff; and prepares daily, monthly, and annual
reports of kitchen activities. The Food Services Supervisor is supervised by
the Deputy Zoo Director or Zoo Director and/or the Athletic Division
Superintendent.
High school diploma or GED
certificate and two (2) years of experience in large scale commercial or
institutional cooking to include planning of menus and meals, ordering food and
food items, processing financial transactions, cleaning and maintenance of
kitchen facilities, and completing paper work. Must have at least one (1) year
of experience in the supervision of staff involved in large scale preparation
of meals. Must possess and maintain a current ServSafe Food Protection Manager
Certification.
NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience
that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be
considered.
May be required to work overtime, nights,
holidays, and weekends and be on call. Must be willing to submit to a thorough
background investigation and drug screening to include pre-employment.
