Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform administrative and supervisory work that involves managing the operations department of the museum and the supervision of clerical, accounting, security and maintenance staff. Responsibilities include directing the museum operations policies, budget recommendations, supervision of museum security and maintenance and other related activities and aids in the general administration of the museum. The Assistant Museum Director operates under the authority and supervision of the Museum Director and reports to the Museum Director. The Assistant Museum Director serves as acting Director in the Director and Deputy Director's absence.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a closely related field and at least five (5) years' experience in business management and accounting, preferably with a non-profit institution with at least two of the five years in a supervisory or management capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's Degree is desirable.

NOTE:  Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

 


Special Requirements

Position requires the use of a personal or City vehicle on City business. Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Must be on call 24 hours, work weekends and nights when necessary. Must have the ability to be bonded.
