The fundamental reason this
classification exists is to plan, coordinate and manage various events to
include concerts, cruises, festivals, parades, weddings, and other special events
for public assembly facilities. The primary
work responsibilities of this position are: solicits, sells and books leases
for special events; plans and coordinates events; fosters and maintains
sponsorship relationships; performs administrative duties; manages food service
operations; supervises temporary and contract workers; and completes other
duties as assigned. The Events
Coordinator will assist the Events Manager in executing all departmental
programming. The Events Coordinator reports to the Director of Cultural Affairs.
High school diploma or GED and
four (4) years of experience in planning, coordinating, and promoting special
events in a large public assembly facility. A Bachelor’s degree in business,
public administration, marketing, or a closely related field may be substituted
for two (2) years of the required experience.
NOTE:
Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the
requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be
considered.
Must work nights, weekends and
holidays as required. Physical ability to lift equipment and supplies up to 50
pounds as needed to load, unload, and set up for special events.
