The
fundamental reason this position exists is to supervise the work of skilled and
semi-skilled workers administering herbicide and pesticide applications and
maintaining City right-of-ways, drainage easements, and other City owned
properties. The primary work responsibilities of
this position are: supervises employees; oversees the application of herbicide
and pesticide spraying and mowing operations of right-of ways, drainage
easements, and City-owned properties; designs and oversees landscape and plant
projects; prepares and maintains records of equipment, materials, and supplies;
coordinates maintenance work.
Supervision is received from the Assistant Director, Maintenance.
High
school diploma or GED and five (5) years experience working at a nursery/garden
center or in landscape maintenance to include one (1) year experience in the
application of restricted chemicals and two (2) years of related supervisory or
lead worker experience. Preference will be given to those applicants with
experience maintaining street rights-of-way or administering a mosquito control
program.
NOTE:
Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite
knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Ability
to obtain and maintain a CDL Class B with tanker endorsement. Ability to be on-call 24 hours and work
nights, weekends, and holidays as needed for emergencies and/or special events.
Applicants must have obtained either a State Public Health License or a
Rights-of-Way License at the time of appointment and must have obtained
the other of the two within six (6) months after
appointment.
