The
fundamental reason this position exists is to perform semi-skilled mechanical
work including assisting in installing, repairing and maintaining HVAC systems
in the City of Montgomery
facilities. Employees in this class
perform a variety of tasks requiring a practical knowledge of the HVAC
mechanical trade. Assignments are made
by written or oral instructions. More
difficult work is performed under supervision, but employees may work
independently on more routine maintenance and repair tasks. Work is inspected in progress and upon
completion for workmanship and satisfactory operation of systems. Supervision is received from a HVAC Mechanic
II or III.
High
school diploma or G.E.D equivalent and one (1) year of experience assisting in
the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems. Must have possession of an EPA 608 Type I and II
certification.
NOTE: Qualifying education, training and experience that provide
the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be
considered.
Must
possess and maintain a valid Alabama
driver's license. Must be able to dig, climb, squat, bend, crawl, and lift
objects over 50 pounds assisted and unassisted as needed to perform
installations, repairs, and maintenance of HVAC systems in city buildings and
facilities. Must be willing to work
outside for long periods of time, work in small confined spaces, work in poor
weather conditions, and work in high areas.
Must be willing to work nights, weekends and/or holidays and be on-call
24 hours as needed for emergencies or special events.
