The
fundamental reason this position exists is to manage the Geographic Information
System (GIS) division of City departments. The GIS Manager is responsible for
the overall performance and direction of the GIS program. The GIS Manager is
responsible for determining the GIS needs of the City or departments of
Montgomery; and implementing technologies, processes, and procedures in order
to fulfill those needs. The work responsibilities of this position are: performs
division management duties; develops and implements strategic planning
management; oversees the management of the GIS server and GIS database; provides
service, training, and assistance to customers, staff, and the public; and supervises
two or more full time employees. The GIS Manager is supervised by the Director
of Planning in the Planning Department; and the Public Works Director and/or
City Engineer regarding all Public Works department infrastructure and
projects.
