Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide creative and technical expertise in online computerized post production utilizing various Avid non-linear editing systems along with a suite of software tools. This position is designed to integrate the editor with clients, both in-house and out-of-house, who bring their projects to the editor for completion with expectations of a high level of professional service. The editor is expected to adhere and demonstrate a working knowledge of PBS/FCC technical specifications. This position also interacts and shares projects and media with other editors and producers. This position will require some knowledge and ability to encode video to various standard formats. This position also may need to perform some tape-room duties including, duplication of various format videotapes and DVD's, and tape support for various studio productions.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Select and decide which elements should be used to convey the message of the product, as provided by the client.
  • Edit the elements into a sequence to create element reels, opening title animations, promos, segments or entire shows. 
  • Performs basic maintenance and troubleshooting of the assigned edit suite of equipment.
  • Performs tape-room duties as assigned or needed.
  • Performs some tape operation and support for live studio productions along with tape encoding and DVD creation and duplication.
  • Tape duplication may be required along with format conversion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four (4) years of experience in non-linear editing.

Avid Symphony and or Media Composer

Proficient with Photoshop and After Effects
