Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
This position is responsible for:
· Directing and supervising the work of subordinate Correctional Laundry Officers training and supervising inmate workers in correctional laundry operations.
· Identifies performance problems, counsels Correctional Laundry Officers on violations of rules and regulations when necessary, initiates corrective training or disciplinary action.
· Prepares laundry budget estimates, staffing schedules, and production reports.
· Conducts initial investigations of complaints regarding violations of rules by officers or inmates.
· Monitors laundry operations methods and technical procedures, recommends improvement as needed.
· Prepares and revises established laundering schedules.
· Investigates and brings to a satisfactory conclusion customer complaints.
· Determines supply and equipment needs and initiates requisitions.
· Oversees the maintenance and repair of the laundry equipment.
· Maintains control and discipline among officers and inmate workers by enforcing safety, custody and security regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
In order to meet this educational requirement a copy of your diploma or high school equivalency certificate must accompany your application.
For education obtained outside the United States, you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. This evaluation must be submitted with your application.
Experience: Four years of experience involving the training or supervision of lower-level workers in a production facility, preferably laundry operations.

1. Specific educational requirements and other selection standards are set by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission in accordance with Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209 of the Annotated Code and are listed in the Code of Maryland Regulations Title 12, Subtitle 10, Chapter 01.
2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
