Main Purpose of Job

The Family Engagement Coordinator works in partnership with the SPDG Coordinator and the Parents Place of Maryland (PPMD) to develop and implement grant activities related to family engagement at each of the SPDG districts and schools.

POSITION DUTIES

Collaborates with the Division of Special Education/Early Intervention Services to manage family engagement activities for the Maryland State Personnel Development Grant; ensures that project activities are well documented; supports the success of accomplishing grant outcomes; assists in the development, provision and evaluation of professional development related to increasing family engagement; assists in facilitating meetings and communication between the State Maryland State Personnel Development Grant Implementation Team, the Parents Place and local parent support centers; provides family support to local school systems and public agencies related to improving outcomes and achievement for infants, toddlers, children and youth with disabilities and their families.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:  A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in Special Education, Education or closely related field.  

EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of administrative or teaching experience in or affiliated with a Special Education program.  

NOTES: Possession of a Master’s degree may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
