Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for dietary department set up for all meals, preparing salad bar, line preparation, dietary clean up, and documentation of product usage in accordance with prescribed procedures and applicable health and sanitation regulations and standards.

POSITION DUTIES

The incumbent is responsible for breaking down and cleaning up after breakfast, lunch, and dinner as directed; serving meals from cafeteria line for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as directed; and setting up the cafeteria line for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  The employee will prepare desserts for lunch and dinner, as well as set up the salad bar for lunch and dinner.  The incumbent will prepare special food requests for outings, banquets, holidays, and graduation.  The incumbent is responsible for preparing in-cafeteria-suspension and in-school-suspension meals, work study meals, and health center meals.  This position does require heavy duty cleaning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: None.

Experience: None.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Must be willing to learn American Sign Language.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.  Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

New hires are subject to a criminal background investigation at their own expense.  (Maryland Code, Family Law Article 1, Sections 5-560-568)

Candidates will need to provide three letters of recommendation.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.  As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
