Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, training and supervising the work of subordinates; process revenue collections; daily cash recordations and deposits, disbursement of petty cash, post and reconcile working funds and expense disbursements and process travel and expense advances. The position also includes tasks such as maintaining and reconciling working fund daily balances, reviews and approves funds disbursement and reimbursement in FMIS; ensures requests for cash disbursements and deposits adhere to the Comptroller of Maryland, Accounting Procedures Manual and other State and Federal laws, rules and regulations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of experience reviewing, verifying, recording, adjusting and balancing financial transactions.

Notes:

1. Experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required high school education.

2. Six credit hours in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

3. A minimum of five courses or six months of accounting-related training in a vocational training program in subjects such as journalizing transactions, analyzing transactions into debits and credits, posting to a general ledger, payroll, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Three of the required four years of experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of experience planning, coordinating, supervising and evaluating the work of Fiscal Accounts Clerks or other fiscal clerical positions.

A minimum of one year of experience training subordinate employees

Experience with FMIS (Financial Management Information Sysytem)

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates will be subject to an initial drug screen and a complete criminal background investigation to include a polygraph examination before appointment can be made. 

A criminal conviction may be grounds for rejection of the candidate.

The list will be used by the hiring manager to select the individual to fill the vacancy.
